The Aurora Indoor Soccer League wrapped up on Sunday for the under-16 girls, with Bradford taking out the King City squad 2 – 0 in the playoff championship game.

It was a big win for Bradford, who redeemed themselves from a recent 4 – 1 loss to King City in the final game of the regular season on Mar. 24.
Both teams wrapped up successful winter seasons with identical records – seven wins, two draws and one loss in 10 games to lead the league.

Mark Hamilton, King City’s head coach, said his team fought hard and evenly matched their opponent despite the age difference between the two teams. Bradford is a ’98 team, while the King City Royals is comprised of players from ’99.

Both teams will be playing in the highest division this summer as part of the Ontario Youth Soccer League.

The AISL runs annually from January to April with limited number of spots. The game is full-field 11 vs. 11 soccer on weekends with each team playing 10 games. This season, six teams participated in the under-16 girls’ league from Aurora, King City, Bradford, Oshawa, Richmond Hill and Newmarket.
Organizer Chris Speller said the program had a very successful season, with lots of interest and participation.

“Another competitive but fun filled season has come to a close and these well prepared teams can look forward to their upcoming summer season.”
