Investigations continue into the murder of Aurora native Shirley Lewis-McFarlane after three individuals held for questioning were released from custody last week.

According to Superintendent Yvonne Martin-Daley of the St. Ann Parish branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, there are still no suspects following the discovery of Ms. Lewis-McFarlane’s body in her Discovery Bay home on December 30.

“Police [reviewed] all of the different statements that would have been collected and all the persons they had done interviews with,” the Superintendent told The Auroran. “Those persons who were in custody were released because they did not provide material of an evidentiary nature. The investigation is still continuing.

“Statements have been taken from just about everybody who would have known her, seen her or had anything to do with her.”

A long-time resident of Aurora, Ms. Lewis-McFarlane settled in Jamaica. She is survived by her three children, Jasmine, Amanda, and Shawn, and her father, Don Lewis.
