The Aurora Seniors' Centre's Annual Spring Sale featuring vendors, crafts, white elephant and diamond treasures, is one of the most anticipated and exciting events of the year. It is coming up soon on Saturday, April 30, so mark your calendar now. If you are spring cleaning, downsizing or just have a donation, no matter how large or small, please keep us in mind. Your donations in the past have made this annual event a huge success. (You have to pronounce the word “HUGE” like Donald Trump to get the full effect.) You can drop off your donations at the Aurora Seniors' Centre located at 90 John West Way (next to Town Hall) on Thursday April 28, or Friday April 29, between the hours of 9 – 4. (Most donations are acceptable but please no VHS tapes, magazines, computer books nor clothing). Should you wish to book space as a vendor, please contact the Centre directly. A Time to Remember This month, the Aurora Seniors' Centre held its annual “Time to Remember” Memorial service officiated by Reverend Terry Weller. Music was provided by the Evergreen Choir under the direction of Dr. Richard Heinzle accompanied on the piano by Hadara Jacoby. We also enjoyed the music provided by the junior harpist, Sebastian Gobbels. We honoured the lives, contributions and passing of the following individuals: Tony Catania, Brigid Cummins, Nell Dalton, Alan Davie, Dick Douglas, Frankie Gourlay, George Hamann, Harry Libby, Jim Liddy, Gerald McFarlane, Jean Middleton, Olwen Morgan, Cory Richardson, Bob Smith, June Thompson, Nora May Tschumi, Jack Usher, Maribeth Wansbrough and Iris Whiting. They are missed. Computer Club The computer club is in full swing. This is one my least favourite times: tax time! If you have considered using tax software on your PC and want to learn more about it and want to ask questions of our tax expert, Robert York, book some time to attend the Tuesday meetings, 10 to 11 a.m. The computer club continues to cover topics of interest to ASA members. Membership Renewal If you have not already done so, please be reminded that all Aurora Seniors Association members must renew their membership for the calendar year 2016. Don't miss out on all the Aurora Seniors' Centre has to offer! Walking Group It has been a pretty mild winter (knock on wood!), so that reminds me of our energetic Wednesday morning walking group. Walks are held on Wednesday mornings and last about an hour in length. Canes or walking sticks are optional. Most walks depart from the Sheppard's Bush parking lot as this is the most used and well maintained path in the winter so it tends to be safer and in better condition for our walks. When weather permits we try other routes such as the route from Sheppard's Bush to the Vandorf Sideroad Trail. We try not to walk if the weather gets too icy or if weather does not permit for comfort and safety. We hope to return with as many people as depart! Double check with the reception desk at the ASC (905-726-4767) early any Wednesday morning to confirm your involvement. We are always looking for eager members to walk with us so come on outside! Join us! So long for now, I try not to think too far ahead because “pre-meditated” gets thrown around loosely in court! For more information on the Aurora Seniors' Centre and all it has to offer, drop by 90 John West Way, visit the web site www.auroraseniors.ca, email auroraseniors@rogers.com or call 905-726-4767 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. --------------------------------------------------- Images: --------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------- Post date: 2016-03-02 17:45:38 Post date GMT: 2016-03-02 22:45:38 Post modified date: 2016-03-16 11:00:14 Post modified date GMT: 2016-03-16 15:00:14 ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Export of Post and Page as text file has been powered by [ Universal Post Manager ] plugin from www.gconverters.com
